There are just a few corporate symbols that are as readily recognizable as the “apple” logo of Apple Inc. The genius of its design is particularly noteworthy in that it is not simply the picture of a whole apple (Steve Jobs’ favourite fruit, I am told), but a bitten one! I do not know what went behind the thought of coming up with the logo of a “bitten” apple, but I very well know what went behind the scene of an apple that was once bitten by a woman! The essential mundanity of a nude body became
irresistibly alluring and enticing when decked with a few strategically placed fig leaves! So, then I ask, is the allure of sex (thanks to Eve) a good thing? The most common response will likely be, “… sure, duh!?”
“Duh” is a good thing. It is suggestive of something obvious; something that is a no-brainer. If it is that straightforward why do we struggle - yes, STRUGGLE - so much with this topic that it becomes not so “duh” enough not to be relegated to the realm of taboo?
Sexual health is a good marker of our psycho-physical health. Brain, the MI-6 super nerve centre of all biophysical activities, is the greatest sexual organ. So, we can, by extension then state that “sexuality is the highest, most subtle expression of our physical Shakti” (Bill Taggart, The Intuitive Self). Taggart explains this further: Sexuality is a pivotal, transitional energy on which we swing from biological to post-biological developments. Kundalini, sexuality’s subtle twin, (however) deems sexuality to be the lowest or most physical aspect of our spiritual creative energy.
Despite the conflicting façade presented by the two contrasting physical and sexual energy forces, the key to understanding either force lies in our ability to grasp that “our sexual Shakti and Kundalini Shakti are designed to co-operate through bonding so that we have the best of both inner and outer worlds” (Taggart).
When our current dominant world religions – Christianity and Islam – were in the rudimentary stages of understanding the tenets of universal consciousness, what they could not grasp got labelled “pagan”. The Indian subcontinent of South Asia was, however, already on cruise mode with its superior Vedic wisdom and traditions, and was awash in the knowledge and practice of Tantric sex. The world even today has no proper grasp of Kama Sutra beyond its superficial western interpretations as typically encapsulated in quick-pill form that is equivalent to imbibing apple juice at the total exclusion of its most nutritious component, the
skin. Dr. Jenny Wade in Transcendent Sex wrote: Tantric sexuality often cultivates ecstatic consciousness as well as increased spirituality aware of the erotic consciousness that pervades one’s human embodiment as well as everything that contextualizes this embodiment. The oneness of Kundalini Shakti (the innate spiritual connection) and its physical manifestation Shiva Shakti (the physical energy form) is as inseparable as the water source is from its diverse bodies of lakes, rivers and the oceans. Why then all this fuss over sex? The answer lies in the scripted intrigue at the Garden of Eden!
Catholic priesthood has been forced into a life of celibacy based
on the mad incantations of a Saul (Paul). Laurence Gardner, in his
Bloodline of the Holy Grail cites the discovery by Prof. Morton Smith
(Columbia University, USA) in 1958. He found a manuscript of the
Ecumenical Patriarch of Constantinople in the monastery at Mar Saba
(east of Jerusalem). Within a book of the works of St. Ignatius of
Antioch was a transcription of a letter by Bishop Clement of Alexandria
(AD 150-215). It was addressed to this colleague, Theodore, and
included a generally unknown section from the Gospel of St. Mark.
Clement’s letter decreed that some of the original content of Mark was
to be suppressed as it did not conform to Church requirements. Clement wrote: “For even if they should say something true, one who loves the Truth should not, even so, agree with them. For not all true things are the Truth, nor should that truth which seems true according to human opinions be preferred to the true Truth – that according to faith. To them one must never give way; nor, when they put forward their falsifications, should one concede that the secret Gospel is by Mark – but should deny it on Oath. For not all true things are to be said to all men.”
What the aforementioned paragraph refers to is Jesus’ marriage to Mary Magdalene. The historical Jesus married just as any man in his day would. This is clearly evident in a number of references in the gospels despite the editing by the Church. Why then the subsequent distortions and edicts expecting his followers to remain celibate? To make a long story short, celibacy was simply a counter-mechanism to the Jewish and Pagan tradition of priesthood by hereditary. Claims by birthright would drain Church’s vast assets. So, the Church came up with the ingenious strategy of protecting apostolicity from hereditary by inventing the character of priestly class as one imparted by the Holy Ghost in the divinely instituted Sacrament of Orders!
However, celibacy applied only to the ordinary priests: “the papal fraternity and high ranking cardinals exempted themselves from the celibacy restrictions, and they were permitted to employ personal mistresses” (L. Gardner, 2008, pg.123). Thus, although the popes did not marry, their supreme status afforded them the protected privilege of retaining courtesans within the Vatican establishment. Vatican was also deemed a resident institution within the precepts of Roman law, wherein prostitution was legal. Within the scandals of the “pornocracy” of Vatican, we also see the murder of Pope John XIII (whoe papacy began on
October 1, 965 and ended on September 6, 972) by an enraged citizen who discovered the Pope in adultery with his wife. (pg.124).
This open, self-entitled right to “pornocracy” by the higher officials of the Church began to change by the 19th century with the implementation of the new strategy of electing significantly older men to the papal office. We, hereby, come full circle with yet another case in favour biology!
So, why is “divinity” as espoused by Christianity and Islam allergic to the simple most, monosyllabic “duh?” as pertaining to the very genesis of the life force? Why is gay and lesbian attraction frowned upon? Why the brain that conjured up the notion of godliness is denied its natural biochemical make-up which, with equal measure of ingenuity, determines the chemical responsiveness in genders and gender-based attractions in humans?
The answer is just as simple as our – by now proverbial - “duh?!” It is the age-old psychology of exacting power through intimidation for control and domination of one group over the other. The intent is to make you fearful (sin); to make you guilty (taboo); to subject you to deprivation of your self-esteem (wrath of god); to make you confused (repent); to make you feel superior (celibacy) – all of which will measure your worth as a human being in the eyes of “god” (bribery). It does not matter that you just returned from Haiti doing the impossible for your fellow human being: to those who wear the halo of self-appointed righteousness, the key to your goodness is being asexual!
Uh?!?... Duh!
